Pic 6. As the tree is about 40 years old and grown as a garden tub plant, the tap root was not properly cut and there is still a massive piece of timber underneath. I have already taken some 80% of the root ball off, I am not going to risk the tree by taking more timber off, as aresult is potted high up, the seroius stuff have to come next year. Comment please. The good the bad and the ugly, if I have taken the wrong approach.

Yep, a very pleasing result from a very average piece of stock - just goes to show.

Nearly 12 months later. Root pruned and potted yesterday.
